About
Hi, fancy a couple of weeks on the glorious Magnetic Island, in a new house? I live in a lovely, bright, modern, newly built house in Nelly Bay. It's a 40 min barge ride from Townsville with a vehicle or 20 mins on the ferry. I have a large garden that is always growing & changing, but its just a really fascinating property, full of wildlife, birds & colourful butterflies. I have a freshwater creek in the back yard that has a great pool/waterfall to dip in after it rains. I've built a fence around the front yard/house, so the dogs can run around, toilet as they please. The cats is an indoor cat as there is too much wildlife - she's older & sleeps a lot, except when she comes out for a chat. There is a beach within 3 mins drive, no matter which way you turn & plenty of others to explore on the island. Also close to the island's 2 supermarkets, bottle shops & restaurants. Its a 2-bed, 2 bath house, with a large modern kitchen, brand new appliances, satellite NBN, WiFi, study with large work desk & monitors (BYO laptop) & Netflix/on-demand TV, queen beds, air-con, large , undercover deck. MAGNETIC ISLAND - off the coast of Townsville, is ~ 85% National Park & you won't be disappointed!
Pets & farm animals
My babies - there are 2 dogs & 1 cat - all with big personalities! The cat - Possum, 12 & pretty much look after herself - typical cat, a bit shy but inquisitive & affectionate on her terms. She does sleep on the bed, on a cat pillow, which has always been fine with me. She has alternative sleeping spots if you aren't keen for cuddles. The dogs - Lara (8, Maltese/Poodle) needs 2 walks a day to get rid of some excess energy. Just a stroll on-leash to the end of the street (which in itself is a lovely walk) in the evening. Then in the morning we go down to the beach (usually Geoffrey Bay but you can pick a different spot) & they have a bit of off-leash time. Lara needs some close attention though & I always have her on leash on when there are other dogs around. The beaches here are pretty quiet, so most of the time she's free to roam. Lara had a very rough start & has a few anxieties - just around other dogs in the street. But needs paying attention to!! Gidget (14, Chihuahua/papillon) - LOVES to snuggle & is the class clown. They both sleep a lot during the day, but they love company so leaving them alone ALL day is not appropriate. I work from home, so they are used to having someone around most of the day. They can be let out into the yard, no problems. They're all rescue animals, with their own stories, but the are a really friendly, smoochy & loving bunch & have big hearts of pure gold.
House Tasks
Your time here would involve the standard routines of 2 feeds a day - around 7am & 6pm. Lara being a young dog requires an extra walk in the evening & both dogs take a walk together in the morning. Feeding time doesn't take long but its definitely a little process to have everyone eating what/where they should. Plus poop-scooping + kitty-litter duties, house duties, etc. I really appreciate coming home to a clean house, its pretty easy to keep clean & tidy :-) I would ask that I get an update regularly while I'm away. This can be via SMS, private Instant Message, email or Facebook - I'm happy with whatever is easiest for you.
